Utilizing The Power Of Local SEO For Marketing Your Business Online

Is Local SEO Right For You?

There is much to be said regarding the power of local seo. There are numerous upstart companies focusing on this method of search engine optimization and for good reason. People buy and lease search engine listings on the major indexes, especially Google, because organic listings are less expensive than paid advertising. They make local seo look very appealing for both the advertiser and those who are selling the advertising.

Local seo is powerful for many reasons. Targeting keywords based on local businesses, companies, etc. is much easier, or so many believe, because there is less overall traffic competition. This makes it easier to reach the front pages.   Organic, local seo is also much less expensive than the paid advertising options on the major search engines.

However, if you are doing business only at the local level then local seo is a good way to go. But, if you are running a local retail business that also works in online sales then local seo is only going to part of the job for you. Case in point…

A good friend of mine, from Naples, FL recently contacted me during her search from more exposure for their local business , via the search engines, called Vintage Joye.   The website is already in place and they are generating sales both online and off line. Unfortunately they aren’t doing the volume of sales they would like, based on the niche product, and asked us if we could give them a hand.  We quickly went to work to push their website to the front pages of Google for a high ranking keyword in their niche market.

In this situation a local seo campaign, based on their niche market, showed little promise for increasing sales to the volume they are looking for. But after looking at the traffic numbers for their niche market, via the Internet, the choice to target Internet based business first was the best course of action.

Choosing between local seo and larger target markets, via the Internet, boils down to the level at which you are generating and conducting business. Another important variable in regards to whether or not local seo is right for you is location, especially for people who flourish during the winter months in markets located in the southern U.S. to include Florida, Arizona and others. If you are a doctor working this market, for example, then a combination of both local and national SEO may be right for you.  This is a viable option for anyone in the service industry doing business in warmer clients during the winter migration.

Solid info Rex. Many local businesses may have never even considered marketing outside their immediate area. With the power of the internet and a proper SEO campaign, that can be done successfully. Reply
